Remember the aussie grungerock song called "tomorrow" that poked its head through the
radio smoke sometime back when Nirvana fell apart? I remember it getting big some time in middle
school(im horrible with dates so dont ask me the year. I'm gonna guess 1996-ish) Anyhow, that WAS
silverchair. And that was one of the many grungy clonish catchy run of the mill 90's culture indicator
songs. What I want to tell you now, is to forget that song, if you didnt forget it immediately
after it went out of style so quickly which is probably the case. So I want you to take a listen to
a forgotten(more like no-longer-popular-in-the-U.S) band for a moment and you will not be
disappointed. Do not let your feelings for grunge deter you (if for some reason youre not a fan) because
believe it or not, once in a while bands with major record deals CAN actually change. And this
one has. drastically. I want to say that symphonic rock like metallica made will never come even
close to !
existing on the same level as such a beautifully composed piece as "emotion sickness", the opening
track to Neon Ballrom does.(sorry S&M fans, but one word best describes that ... that...double cd
...thing with extra instruments they did: regurgitation)... But anyway im not sure that was a
good reference because you know what? I cant compare this record to any other because Im not sure I
know of any that sound even similar. So Im going to stop with the comparisons and tell you what it
sounds like. Its a metal/symphony/rock journey that takes you from soft and shimmery to a
mouthfull of blood and sick to your stomach quicker than you ever thought possible, and then it takes you
back and forth with a million shades of brain-gray in between (or is it grey? i never remember..)
This record is not super catchy(not boring after two times through) but very singable, and its not
homogenous but very diverse and every song fits in its place. The lyrics are poetic and worth
reading !
even if youve never heard the songs. You might recognize the chorus from one "anna's song(open
fire)" from the radio back a couple of... few/several years ago, i forget its almost 2003 holy crap,
where it goes "open fire...on the needs designed...on my knees for you" but it will ring a bell i
promise. And youre going to love the rest. the rest is sooooooo good. I want you to try it.
download "miss you love" as well as the two i mentioned above. and youve got a good sample of the
album. So take a listen OK?
